My Terry family connection is with my husband's 2nd Great-grandmother, Jane Mary Terry, daughter of John Terry and Eliza Bachell of Staple in Kent. John's father was James Terry whose parentage hasn't been found yet. It is a very prevalent surname in Kent, arriving in England after the Norman Conquest. The son of Deorman of London, Thierry, was granted lands in Kent by Gilbert the Earl of Pembroke between 1138 and 1148. Thierry continued to be a tenant of Richard FitzGilbert of Clare.
